Finially Finished Wicked & Son of a Witch

wicked.gifIf you are looking for a great book to read, Wicked by Gregory Maguire is awesome. It was a little difficult at times because often he eludes to something but doesn’t come right out and say it leaving you scratching your head, but this also makes it fun to deduce your own conclusions. He also uses some $5 words at some points that I couldn’t even pronounce, but I guess that’s part of why we read… to learn. I enjoyed the story very much and hope to go see the show when it comes back to town in 2010.

I also finished the sequal, Son of a Witch, although I didn’t quite like it as much as the first. Still a good read though. I have the third one, A Lion Among Men, but I think I am going to wait to read it.

We have started a little family book club and Wicked was the first in our series that we chose. Next we are reading Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. I ordered it used and cheap online and I will start it soon. I am debating whether to read that first or Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog by John Gorgan because the movie comes out on DVD any day now and I want to see it. I just think that I will chuckle and laugh my way through it after raising Brenner, affectionately dubbed the Monster Mutt when he was little.

I also picked up The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd because it is supposed to be fabulous. And all the while I am still drooling to read the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. I have always had a thing for vampires and everyone said this series is hard to put down. We got the movie last week and even though I prefer to read the book first, I couldn’t resist. I thought the movie was great and now I cannot wait to read the books. The problem is that if I start, I have 4 books that I will want to get though in that series and I want to continue reading for our book club, and sneak in Marley & Me before it comes out on DVD.

Sometimes I just wish I had all the time in the world to read. Oh, and for those who like to read and are watching their budgets, I got almost all the books mentioned above used on Amazon.com for under a few bucks… AND they are hardcovers.

Hey there … how’s things? Every once in a while I’ll check your site to get updates on your lives! Just wanted to tell you the book Marley and Me has got to be better than the movie … it was okay, but so glad I didn’t waste my money in the theater! Read the book first!!
