What does $1300 Buy You?

How about peace of mind that you can flush the toilet and it won’t overflow downstairs. Or maybe a hot shower that you can take in the morning and does not overflow downstairs. Or how about being able to wash your clothes or the dishwasher and not have it overflow downstairs… you get the picture yet? Yeah. We’re not happy right now.
Yesterday I was taking a nice hot shower to get ready for work, when David came running up the stairs and told me to shut off the water. So here I am, butt-naked in the shower with conditioner still in my hair and I’m freezing, not knowing what’s up. Well, the water from my shower was running out of the toilet in the downstairs bathroom all over the floor. David called a plumber yesterday afternoon and they have to dig a 5-foot hole in our front lawn and replace the pipes… $1300. We don’t have $1300 right now because I still don’t have my tax statement (another story all together) so I get to sock that nice little number on the credit card I have been so diligently trying to pay off. The good news is that hopefully I can take my nice hot shower tomorrow and not have to worry.
Another fun little thing that has added to the end of a lovely week is that my loving BF decided to take the nice, new Kohler toilet from downstairs out to dump the water and figured he needed to replace the ring that needs to seal it and he chipped the front of the porcelain… about an inch of a chunk is missing now. I’m so glad we spend the money to replace things that barely work with really nice things, only to have them be ruined. I’m not having a great week, if you couldn’t tell already.
