House/Pooch Updates
December 5th, 2008 Posted in Doggie Tails (Tales), House&Home, Misc.I know I haven’t been very good about posting, but so much has been going on. We’ve been working on the house and slowly we have been getting much done:
- Finished adding stucco texture to master bath and painted light olive green last week (still need to finish adding darker faux glaze over top)
- Installed new toilet paper holder, new light fixtures, curtain rod & curtain (David is so happy he doesn’t need to be the neighborhood naked guy anymore), and new stainless hooks above tub to hang our beautiful monogrammed olive towels that I got for bridal shower present
- Finished painting the walls in the kitchen last night, which just needed the tops done after David and my dad repaired the ceiling (still have some trim work to do tonight)
- Installed our new microwave last night
- David installed boards on top of the cupboard yesterday to give a nice clean-able surface and better place for me to decorate(here come the Christmas deckies)
- David primed his office to get ready for brown paint a few weeks ago
- David painted the front door on the inside and all trimwork last week
- We tried to install bead-board wainscoting in downstairs bathroom only to run into a snag behind the wall so we are repairing
That’s it on the house updates thus far. I hope to be decorating the house for Christmas this week, at least in the living room and kitchen. I’m dying to get the tree up and start playing my Christmas tunes to get me in the mood. I won’t be decorating the banister and foyer area when you enter the house (sigh) because this area still needs a lot of work and paint, but this requires scaffolding which is why we haven’t done it yet… tall ceilings seem great, but not when you have to paint them!
In other news, our poochie had his first injury. We don’t know what he did, but he tore his little pinky toenail on his front foot in half. He was bleeding all over the place and it looks so incredibly painful. We took him to vet yesterday to the tune of $55 just to have them look at it, tear the broken part off, and send him on his way. He’s been getting lots of love to help in his healing though… he’s just the cutest little pooper.
Other than that, we took advantage of some excellent after-Thanksgiving sales and have most of our Christmas shopping done. We splurged and got ourselves the Aerosmith Guitar Hero for the Wii for $60, and it totally ROCKS! I couldn’t figure it out at first, but now I’ve got it down and kick David’s butt. I’m slightly addicted to it and already beat it on easy… medium is quite a bit tougher but still so much fun. I’m also still knitting and have a few Christmas gifts done, but one that I wanted to finish is going to wait for another holiday… it was a big project and too much to get done before the holidays… oh well. Sometimes you need to know where to cut back to get it all done and this had to be put on hold (along with my late-night Guitar Hero rockings). Next year I will start my knitting earlier so I can do something for everyone. Now I just need to get my Christmas cards made… maybe I can start those this weekend. Never a moment of downtime in December… ‘TIS THE SEASON!
