So many projects, so little time
July 22nd, 2008 Posted in Misc.As you can tell, we have been quite busy (hence no posts for a while). We officially go to the lawyers tomorrow to sign our papers and get the keys to our new house! I will post the official announcement tomorrow when we are actually in and can start doing some work. There is so much that needs to be fixed up in the house… new water heater, new HVAC, new paint, new carpets, and more. The end of the summer will be very busy for us and we hope to be officially moved in by September. We will post many updates on our projects moving forward.
This past weekend we bought new Serta mattresses for our bed (old one has been hurting our backs… we were due) and a new Frigidaire Stainless Steel gas stove. The stove that’s in the house is on its last leg and we were going to hold out, but we went to HHGreggs and happened on a scratch and dent sale where we found our stove for $675. It’s SRP: $1150, but had a dent on the side and in the back, but you won’t even see them once it is installed. We were pretty excited about it though. They deliver the stove and our mattresses in a few weeks.
At our surrent apartment I have been working on some projects too:
- Finishing the knitted baby blanket – only 4 squares left.
- Converting all of our dvds to slim cases – thanks to David being a dvd-junkie, we have too many and they don’t all fit in the cabinet. We went to Sams Club and bought 100 slim cases (we’ll need more) and I have been scanning covers, resizing the spines, printing them, and saving 1/2 the space of a regular DVD. So far I have about 50 done… I have my work cut out for me but it will be so great to save the space and eliminate some clutter.
- After the dvds are done, I will convert my cds into a smaller storage solution. My aunt bought some cd boxed and is moving her cds to envelopes to save space… I think this is a fantastic idea so I may do the same. I think I’m going to get the envelopes that are clear, have the tabs at the top to label, and holes on the sides for putting in a cd wallet with D-rings. That way, if we are going on a trip or something, I can grab just one small cd wallet (right now I have over a dozen), pull out the cds we want, and carry them with me… but yet they will all store together nice and neat and in much less space. I think I will probably get the little indexing tabs too, so they stay in order.
