Mom’s Graduation and Birthday Blues
June 10th, 2007 Posted in Misc.So we went home this past week to see my mom graduate from MCC. She looked beautiful and I have never seen her sparkle the way that she did that night! We were all so proud to watch her walk that stage. It is such a huge accomplishment to go back to school and get your degree, and even harder when you do it as an adult. It takes a lot of courage and she did it… and with honors!!! Here are some pictures from her graduation (some taken by me; others by my sister Beth): click here.
In other news… my birthday was on Thursday. It sucked. I’m 29, I spent it in a car all day driving home from NY, and no one really called me on the day or even recognized it (other than my parents, grandparents, sister, fiance, godmother, and David’s mom). I guess as you get older they don’t really count any more. Now, in fairness, a bunch of people wished me well on the family sites, but it just isn’t the same. And thank goodness Noemi had me covered in the cake department with some Happy Birthday cupcakes! YUM! Oh well. Next year I’ll be 30 and I’ll cry then.

I’m sorry!! Happy late birthday! I didn’t know! And don’t worry about being 30 next year, it’s all a state of mind … you’ll be having babies soon and then nothing else matters (my first was at 31!) … 35 was the hard one for me, but other bad things were happening in my life at that time … 40 wasn’t too bad … this year will be 42, and I still can’t believe it, I keep forgetting I’m old and keep thinking I’m like 28!

That’s okay… you’re right though–age is just a mind set (although talk to me again next year and my attitude may be different–yikes–I’ll be 30!). We’ll have to celebrate with some wine when I come home!!! David and I picked some up last weekend that we really liked (so much so that we may need a few more this trip). YUM!
