No wonder I’m having a tough time with jobs!
April 25th, 2007 Posted in Misc.Last night David and I had a little cookout with a friend… just some burgers, baked beans, mac and potato salad… the picnic works. Of course we were also sipping on some cold and frosty beers and as the night pressed on, we decided to go down the street to a little hole-in-the-wall bar. I met a guy there who works for a local design agency and he gave me so much information! The reason I’m not getting any calls is because the local school here, VCU, specializes in this. They have a graduate program that he told me I MUST get into called the AdCenter. They only take 6 people per year and the program is 2 years long, but it is the best program out there and they have the best placement with some of the biggest agencies out there. The people going to school here are getting these jobs that I keep applying for. Now I would really like to apply, but even if I did get in it’s $17,500 a year (x2 years)–OUCH! BUT, he said I could make up to $200,000/year if I get in and do the work. So I don’t know what I am going to do, but I do have the guys information and at the very least I am going to see if I can get him to take a look at my resume and portfolio. Who knows where this information will take me, but now I know why I cannot get a job so easily.
