Suit Buying Trip & Interview Numero Dos
March 19th, 2007 Posted in AnnouncementsDavid and I went shopping yesterday so I could get a suit because I had my second interview today. I found a great black Calvin Klein pants suit at Marshalls for $99 and could not pass it up… I also got two others because we could not decide, both Calvin Klein–one black 3-piece skirt suit with a jacket that tied with a satin fabric that is gorgeous, and another pants suit with grey pinstripes. I know, I know… I only needed one, but David nor I could decide when we got them for $99 (regular retail for the pants suits were $320 EACH and the skirt suit was $360). When you get all three for the price of one, it is kinda hard to pass up. Even David said he would not take any one of them back. They all look so good too! Buying a name brand pays for itself because they are tailored SO nice! So now I have four suits (five if you include the one my mom got me years ago that does not fit currently). And the nice thing is that I can mix some of the pieces together. The black one is probably the most practical of the bunch though. Everyone needs a black suit! I wore it with a cute top that was black with beige polka dots with a scouped neck that tied into a small bow; it totally made it cute and not too stiff.
Well, I went looking like a million bucks and put together a little folder for the five people (which turned into six) I was meeting with. Nothing big, but I printed my resume on nice stock and slipped it into the left side, printed a few smaller pieces to put in the right side, and then put together two pages of thumbnails of my work with descriptions and another page with some screen shots of the GAA website I managed many years ago. Oh, and then I mocked up a little business card that was “oh-so-cute” with my info to put into the biz-card cutout in the folder. All in all, it turned out pretty good and it allowed me to leave a little something behind with them to show how badly I was willing to work to get the job. Everything went pretty well, except that they set aside two hours and I was only there for one. Is that bad? I did ask questions and they asked me a bunch… I’m not sure how I feel about this one though. I thought I would be more relaxed and I think I was more nervous than the first one! Anyway, I should hear back this week sometime. Keep your fingers crossed!
Oh, and then to celebrate we went out to eat at Firebirds at David’s mall because we had a gift certificate. Well, I ordered prime rib (so unlike me) done medium, and it came back so well done I could not eat it. The manager (who has gotten to know us pretty well)Â said they had a problem with the prime rib cooking and comped my meal and gave me a new one. Not only that, on Mondays their bottles of wine are half off and we ordered one – they comped it too! Yee-haw! Now that’s a way to celebrate! I am hoping that this is a sign of good things to come!
